Music Marketing

The first part of the approach to the marketing production was to discover the production companies and various country singers. We created a case study chart including the history, artists/groups, and what production company each singer was labeled with. This helped us better understand the background of the companies and each approach the singers took to market their styles. The singers we used were Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Luke Grimes, and musical duo, Florida Georgia Line. Dolly Parton and Florida Georgia Line are signed to Big Machine, while Chris Stapleton and Luke Grimes are singed to Mercury Records Nashville. We also had to choose between different songs for our video production, which led us to the song "Need You Now" by Lady A.

My research contained of the singer, Dolly Parton, a songwriter for her career in country music. She was formed in 2007, and has her own website/online platforms to sell merch and connect with fans. Dolly Parton expanded her reach with collaborations of top hit artists, such as Kenny Rogers. Her audience goes through a wide range, starting from your kids, establishing her own Imagination Library, a program that provides free books for children, to older adults. Dolly Parton is known for her signature styles like her big hair, vibrant outfits, and glamorous stage performances.

We then started thinking through how to effectively sell our artist and got to work on that process. We talked about and made notes for our marketing strategy. We created a brainstorming sheet on which we wrote down suggestions for promoting our artist to the general public. We used concepts from our study to inform our own marketing strategy, such as teaming up with a whiskey company like Florida Georgia Line. We talked about our distribution strategy, which included releasing a single first, then the entire album after that. We then included the artist's planned tour into our arrangement. The hardest aspect of the procedure was determining the brand identification and signature motion of the performer. Eventually, We thought of the singer as having her own lipstick line, and incorporating that into her music as part of her brand identity. Her hallmark appearance would be lipstick, which we first saw on Dolly Parton's sign.

The most difficult part of our process was trying to figure out the brand we wanted to use. We brainstormed many different ideas and finally came to a conclusion. There were so many options available though we only got to choose one. The last part of our development is to film a few more scenes, edit, and pre-record our presentation.
